The isle of Krk is the largest island of the Adriatic sea.

History of Krk island
The isle of Krk has been settled since ancient times, but Slavs settled there only in the 7th century. At different times the isle of Krk belonged to Venice, Austria, France, again Austria, then Italy, and only after the First World War did it become part of the Yugoslavian Kingdom, which, after the Second World War started to be called the Republic of Yugoslavia.
In 1990, after the collapse of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, the isle of Krk became part of the independent state of Croatia.

Among the natural landmarks of the isle of Krk there is the carst cave Biserujka, discovered in 1834 — it is the biggest carst cave of the isle of Krk, and one of the most famous and frequently visited caves of Croatia. The cave stuns with its beauty and its abundance of stalactites and stalagmites.
